Everyday there is news of rape and murder and the culprits seem to roam freely. Why doesn’t God punish them?

God’s perfect justice awaits every person at the final judgement. Each of us will reap according to what we have sown. Heavenly father does discipline his children because He loves us and wills our greatest good. But it does not happen the way we would imagine. He shows compassion to those in error and calls them to conversion. God’s ways remain a mystery to us.

When it comes to justice rendered to man by man, every country has laws and a legal system. But when the legal systems fail to render justice to its people, we fail as God’s children.

When man spurned God,and turned to evil, we deserved a  just punishment. But Jesus took upon himself the punishment that should have been ours and died on the cross on our behalf and redeemed us and freed us from the clutches of evil. He showed us what it means to love, and also His vision for humanity. God’s patient love permits man to realize his mistake, repent and change his ways. Remember, only man is capable of self-reflection and conversion.

But what about those innocent people who suffer injustice at the hands of others? Answer is God suffers with them, in them and through them. We see this on the cross. Christ willingly chooses to suffer. And the suffering is not in vain. Resurrection is a sign of the triumph that awaits us at the end of misery and pain. As our faith teaches us, life on earth is temporary. It only prepares us for the permanent one in heaven. So what matters is our life after death. So the injustice done here in this life will be perfectly and justly rectified in the next.
